    BOTOX® Cosmetic

This simple, non-surgical procedure can dramatically reduce even the toughest wrinkles.  Movement of facial muscles can cause the skin to crease.  As skin becomes less elastic over time, repeated frowning may create visible lines and wrinkles- even when your face is relaxed.  By blocking nerve impulses, the superficial muscles wrinkles “relax” and soften, which helps prevent additional wrinkles.

BOTOX® injections have been widely used for cosmetic purposes for a decade, and have been enthusiastically endorsed by the Spa Within BOTOX® clients. A very small amount of the diluted drug is injected directly into the muscle in the desired treatment area. The procedure is quick, confidential, and performed while seated comfortably. It is virtually painless, improvement can be seen after the first few days and results last up to four months.

Important questions to ask to ensure a safe BOTOX® experience

1.)    First, confirm that the person performing the procedure is a physician.

2.)    Ask the doctor about his/her specialty.  The most common, trusted, and best trained doctors to provide BOTOX® services are those specializing in: otolaryngology, plastic surgery, dermatology and some ophthalmologists.

3.)    Ask how much experience a doctor has in this area, especially because BOTOX® is a relatively new procedure.

4.)    Lastly, have a discussion with the doctor before the procedure to talk about realistic expectations, potential risks, and benefits.  All of this information must clearly be explained and discussed with the patient before the procedure takes place.

    Arctic Peels

Sun damaged and aging skin makes us look older and less attractive.  The Arctic Peel is a minimal-downtime, pain free light laser that improves damaged skin with no medications, anesthesia, or prolonged recovery.  The Arctic Peel uses lasers, which chill the skin during the procedure.

What are the after-effects of the procedure?
Depending on skin type, some patients may experience some redness and light flaking for a few days after the procedure.

    Is there any pain?
Your skin is chilled with cold air during the procedure and the laser is not felt.  Afterward, you may experience a mild sunburn-type discomfort that is easily controlled with Tylenol or ibuprofen.

    Is there any post-procedure care?
Our medical esthetician will recommend the preferred skin care line to aid and maintain results.

How many Arctic Peels are needed?
We usually perform a series of three peels, but results may be seen with one procedure.  We will repeat treatment if necessary.

How does Arctic Peel differ from light chemical peels?
Chemical peels often need pre-treatment and the depth of the peel varies.  The Arctic Peel is much more precise.

    What about Microdermabrasion?
The Arctic Peel goes deeper than microdermabrasion and with much more precision.  Unlike microdermabrasion, which shows minimal effects even after many treatments, the Arctic Peel shows visible improvements after one treatment and continues to improve with successive treatments.

    Microlaser Peel

The Microlaser Peel is performed with the same Erbium: YAG laser, but the depth is 5-7 times as deep, ablating the outermost layers of skin in an individually tailored procedure.  Topical anesthetic is used, and healing typically takes 3-5 days.  Skin conditions such as:  wrinkles, scars, acne scars, laxity, keratoses, or pigmentary problems have been very successfully treated with Microlaser Peel.

    Restylane®

Restylane is safe natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane lasts twice as long as collagen, and average treatments typically last six months or even longer. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated enhances the lasting effect. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. Restalane works in a completely different manner than BOTOX®, and the two are often used together with complementary results.
