The Geropsychiatric Unit

Geropsychiatry is a specialized field of psychiatry that takes into account the unique needs of adults age 60 and above. Elliot Hospital was the first in NH to offer inpatient treatment and has the largest unit in the state. The Geropsychiatric Unit also has the ability to take involuntary emergency admissions as a state-certified designated receiving facility (DRF).

The Geropsychiatric Unit offers multidisciplinary services for older adults with acute psychiatric problems. Utilizing a team that provides medical, emotional, and psychiatric care, the patient and family are supported as they strive to return to an optimal level of independence and functioning.
