| It’s that time of year again! |

| Once again Manchester will be the site of the running of the CIGNA/Elliot Corporate 5K Road Race. In its 17th year, the race is not only one of the largest road race in New Hampshire, but perhaps the largest 5K road race in New England! Thousands of elite and recreational runners, walkers and wheelchair entrants will stride through downtown Manchester as the running of the 17th Annual CIGNA/Elliot Corporate Road Race gets underway on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at 6:20 PM. |
| In addition to the approximately 5,000 walkers and runners who participate each year, the event draws spectators from around New England who gather along the race route to cheer on the participants. The event draws extensive media coverage as athletes from around the globe come to New Hampshire to participate in the race – the CIGNA/Elliot 5K is the fastest race in New Hampshire recording a sub-14 minute finish in 2003. Veteran's Park is the official race “headquarters” and where the crowd of thousand collects prior to the firing of the starting gun. Participants will begin arriving in the park after work with a critical mass assembling by 5:30 PM. After the race, participants again re-convene in the park for refreshments and the awards ceremony. |
| This road race combines several CIGNA HealthCare and Elliot Health System core initiatives into one large event: promoting healthy life styles, encouraging family fitness and supporting our community. And, this year we are also pleased to announce that the beneficiary of the road race will be Elliot Health System. This year, proceeds from the race will target the cost of free care provided by Elliot Health System. Elliot plays a crucial role in delivering the best possible and most appropriate healthcare to the communities of southern New Hampshire. Regardless of insurance or the ability to pay, Elliot’s doors are always open to the community, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. In the last year, Elliot provided over $38 million in uncompensated care to the community. | |
| NEW THIS YEAR Proceeds from the race as well as contributions from our corporate partners will benefit Elliot Health System. Elliot plays a crucial role in delivering the best possible and most appropriate health care to the communities of southern New Hampshire. Regardless of insurance or the ability to pay, Elliot’s doors are always open to the community, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. This year, financial support provided to Elliot Health System will target the cost of health care services for the uninsured and under-insured. We’re hoping your company will rally behind your team and support our partner and beneficiary, Elliot Health System, with a donation. Donations are not required, but are certainly encouraged at the following suggested levels based on your team’s size.
